Pet Lover
By Erry Yulia Siahaan
Many people like to see pets, but not all are called to be pet lovers. It is natural to like or even fall in love with good looking things, including well groomed animals. Unfortunately, not all persons have willingness or eagerness to make possible to have what they like to see. Not only in pet-loving matters, but also in other cases. In simple case, some are too lazy to strive for a clean and tidy house though they like to see their houses are always clean and tidy.
To be pet lovers needs extra willingness to do something special to the own pets. It can be to feed and shower them, to bring them to visit vets regularly, to make sure they have their body vaccinated or immunized, etc. It means there must be extra time, extra budget, extra effort, and extra love to be. It is like "to cost an arm and a leg" for certain people due to its high price as well as like "a piece of cake" for true pet lovers because of their desire.
In my mind, there are four types of pet lovers actually.
First, if I may say, the real pet lovers. They are people who have real passion on pets. They owe pets, are financially able to hold all their pets’ needs (by their own budget or by fund rising), and do all pet-related-things by themselves. They know all detail on how to treat their pets. The high cost absolutely does not matter to them. To take care their pets is such as refreshing. They spend much time with them. More they do, better and deeper their feeling is to them.
Second, the semi-real pet lovers. They are people who have high passion to have pets and are financially able to hold all their pets’ needs, but they hire other people to take care all their pet-related-things. They spent time to have fun with their pets. In the other hand, they do not want to be bothered with the nuts and bolts of pets.
Third, the dubious pet lovers. Their love is dubiously, whether they pretend to be pet lover in case to get good public image or attention, or just a prank (meaningless to them). They often appear with their pets among communities or in their social media, but actually they do not spend much time with their pets at home. Sometimes they buy their pets’ needs or treat them.
Fourth, the worst pet-lovers. I say “the worst” because in fact they owe the pets, but it seems they do not care at all. They tend to believe that somebody will contribute to their pets, so they do not need to make sure whether the animals have eaten, drunk, groomed, etc. We may see such poor pets in our crowded neighborhood. “That is my cat,” people say easily. They seem not ashamed if the animals they meant are in poor condition.
Now, what type are you?
